Text

(1)The Mayor may offer a resident the option of applying for a driver’s license or a special identification card that will be accepted by the federal government for any official purpose, subject to the applicable federal requirements. (1A) Repealed.
(A)The application fee for a driver's license or a special identification card issued pursuant to this section shall be waived for:
(i)An individual released from the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons ("BOP"), for one year after the individual is released from the custody of the BOP; and
(ii)An individual in the custody of the BOP at a halfway house in the District.
(B)The Mayor, pursuant to subchapter I of Chapter 5 of Title 2 , may issue rules to implement the provisions of this paragraph.
