Text

(a)If any member:
(1)dies in the performance of duty and the Mayor determines that:
(A)the member’s death was the sole and direct result of a personal injury sustained while performing such duty;
(B)his death was not caused by his willful misconduct or by his intention to bring about his own death; and
(C)intoxication of the member was not the proximate cause of his death; and
(2)is survived by a survivor, parent, or sibling, lump-sum payment of $50,000 shall be made to his survivor if the survivor received more than one half of his support from such member, or if such member is not survived by any survivor (including a survivor who did not receive more than one half of his support from such member), to his parent or sibling if the parent or sibling received more
