Any municipality may make representations and agreements which are necessary or appropriate to ensure the exemption from taxation of interest on bonds, notes or other obligations of the municipality, eligibility of such bonds, notes or other obligations for tax credits or payments from the federal government, or any other desired federal income tax treatment of such bonds, notes or other obligations, in each case under the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or any subsequent corresponding internal revenue code of the United States, as from time to time amended, including agreements to pay rebates to the federal government of investment earnings derived from the investment of the proceeds of bonds, notes or other obligations issued on or after January 1, 1986.
