A regional council of governments shall adopt bylaws for the conduct of its business and shall annually elect from among the representatives to the council a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, a treasurer and such other officers as may be designated or permitted in the bylaws. The bylaws may provide for alternate representatives of the council to attend and vote at any meeting in place of absent representatives and may provide for the organization of a regional planning commission. The bylaws may provide for an executive committee of the council and for additional committees including nonvoting advisory committees. History: P.A. 00-54 restated provision authorizing adoption of bylaws re regional planning commission, effective May 16, 2000; June Sp. Sess. P.A. 21-2 deleted “, who shall be bonded,” and prohibition on serving more than 2 consecutive terms in same office, changed “shall” to “may” re bylaws to provide for executive committee of the council, deleted “executive committee of the regional planning commission and may provide”, and replaced provision requiring meetings to be called by chairman or as bylaws otherwise provide with provision requiring meetings to be called pursuant to bylaws, effective July 1, 2021.
