The district superintendent or presiding elder and a majority of the district stewards appointed according to the discipline of the Methodist Church, residing in any ecclesiastical district, the whole or a part of which is in this state, and which has been or shall be created by an annual conference of said church as a district superintendent's or presiding elder's district, may organize a corporation by making, signing and acknowledging before some officer competent to take acknowledgments of deeds, and filing in the office of the Secretary of the State, a certificate in writing in which shall be stated: The corporate name of such corporation; the town in such district in which it is to be located; the names, residences and official relations to the district of the persons signing such ce
