(a)As used in this section:
(1)“Community benefit partners” means federal, state and municipal government entities and private sector entities, including, but not limited to, faith-based organizations, businesses, educational and academic organizations, health care organizations, health departments, philanthropic organizations, organizations specializing in housing justice, planning and land use organizations, public safety organizations, transportation organizations and tribal organizations, that, in partnership with hospitals, play an essential role with respect to the policy, system, program and financing solutions necessary to achieve community benefit program goals;
(2)“Community benefit program” means any voluntary program or activity to promote preventive health care, protect hea

(c) re community benefit guidelines, added new Subsec. (c) re submission of community health needs assessment, deleted former Subsec. (d) re community benefit program reporting, added new Subsec. (d) re submission of implementation strategy, added new Subsec. (e) re submission of community benefit program status report, added new Subsec. (f) re availability of all-payer claims database information to hospitals for community benefit program purposes, added Subsec. (g) re hospital responsibility for limitations in ability to fulfill program reporting requirements, redesignated existing Subsec. (e) as Subsec. (h) and substantially revised same re Office of Health Strategy's summary and analysis of community benefit program reporting, deleted former Subsec. (f) and added Subsec. (i) re reporting by acute care general hospitals, effective January 1, 2023; P.A. 24-81 amended Subsecs. (b) to (e) and (h) by replacing references to executive director of the Office of Health Strategy with references to Commissioner of Health Strategy, effective May 30, 2024.
