(a)For each fiscal year there shall be allocated twelve million five hundred thousand dollars out of the funds appropriated to the Department of Transportation, or from any other source, not otherwise prohibited by law, to be used by the towns for the construction, reconstruction, improvement or maintenance of highways, sections of highways, bridges or structures incidental to highways and bridges or the improvement thereof, including the plowing of snow, the sanding of icy pavements, the trimming and removal of trees, the installation, replacement and maintenance of traffic signs, signals and markings, for traffic control and vehicular safety programs, traffic and parking planning and administration, and other purposes and programs related to highways, traffic and parking, and for the pu

P.A. 03-3 amended section to change amount allocated to towns for specified purposes from $14,600,000 to $12,500,000, effective August 20, 2003; P.A. 13-247 designated existing provisions as Subsec. (a) and added Subsec. (b) re use of funds for other purposes with approval of Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management, effective July 1, 2013; P.A. 22-118 added Subsec. (c) re reporting requirement by towns and districts that received funds and made technical changes, effective July 1, 2022.
