Text

(1)Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, there is established in each county of the state a county department of human or social services that consists of a county board of human or social services, a county director of human or social services, and any additional employees as may be necessary for the efficient performance of public assistance, as defined in section 26-2-103 (7), and medical assistance.
(2)Case management agencies established pursuant to part 17 of article 6 of this title 25.5 may act as state designated agencies and are authorized to carry out functions as specified in part 17 of article 6 of this title 25.5 that are otherwise performed by county departments of human or social services.
