Text
(1)The general assembly hereby finds
and declares that:
(a)Establishing a summer school grant program to provide funding to school
districts and institute charter schools to provide intensive reading, writing, or
mathematics education services to students entering the fifth through eighth
grades who received an unsatisfactory proficiency level score on the reading,
writing, or mathematics component of the Colorado student assessment program
for the previous academic year is an important element of an accountable
education program to meet state academic standards; and
(b)Research shows that implementing research-based practices, as defined
by the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, 20 U.S.C. sec. 6301 et seq., as
amended, can cause significant improvement in a student's
