(1)The board of education of each school district is authorized to enter into written, contractual agreements or arrangements with any college or university for the purpose of providing field experiences in teacher education. Field experiences shall include all activities incurred within the district by a regularly enrolled student in any phase of the teacher education program of the institution, regardless of the title of his position. A student teacher is a student engaged in a major field experience with increasing responsibility for teaching, supervision, and direction of an identified group of learners. The student teaching field experience is normally the terminal field experience in the professional exposure to public schools leading to certification.
