Text
As used in this article 33, unless the context otherwise requires:
(1)Academic year means that portion of the school year during which the
public schools are in regular session, beginning about the first week in September
and ending about the first week in June of the next year, or that portion of the
school year which constitutes the minimum period during which a pupil must be
enrolled.
(2)Adult means a person who has reached the age of twenty-one years.
(3)Board of education means the school board, board of directors, and
board of education of a school district.
(3.5) Child who is habitually truant means a child who is six years of age on
or before August 1 of the year in question and is under seventeen years of age and
who has four unexcused absences from public school in
