§ 12-285-210 — Scope of part 2 - exclusions

(1) This part 2 does not prohibit:

(a) Practice as a physical therapist assistant in this state by a legally
qualified physical therapist assistant from another state or country whose
employment requires the physical therapist assistant to accompany and care for a
patient temporarily residing in this state, but the physical therapist assistant shall
not provide physical therapy services for another individual, nor shall the person
represent or hold himself or herself out as a physical therapist assistant certified to
practice in this state;

(b) The administration of massage, external baths, or exercise that is not a
part of a physical therapy regimen;

(c) A person registered, certified, or licensed in this state under any other
law from engaging in the practice for which the person is registered, certified, or
licensed;

(d) Practice as a physical therapist assistant in this state by a legally
qualified physical therapist assistant from another state or country for the purpose
of participating in an educational program of not more than sixteen weeks'
duration;

(e) The practice of a physical therapist assistant licensed, certified, or
registered in this or any other state or territory of the United States who is
employed by the United States government or a bureau, division, or agency thereof
while within the course and scope of the physical therapist assistant's duties; or

(f) The performance of noninvasive debridement, such as autolytic and
enzymatic debridement treatment.
