§ 12-285-203 — Limitations on authority

Colorado·Title 12 Professions·Art. Physical Therapists and

(1)Nothing in this part 2 authorizes a physical therapist assistant to perform any of the following acts:

(a)Practice of medicine, surgery, or any other form of healing except as authorized by this part 2; or

(b)Use of roentgen rays and radioactive materials for therapeutic purposes, use of electricity for surgical purposes, or diagnosis of disease.

(2)A physical therapist assistant shall not practice physical therapy unless the assistant works under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.

(3)A physical therapist assistant:

(a)Shall not perform sharp wound debridement;

(b)May perform general wound care and nonsharp debridement, including mechanical, autolytic, enzymatic, and maggot, under the supervision of a physical therapist when debridement is consistent wi
