No landlord or keeper of any hotel or public inn is obliged to receive property from any guest or patron for custody under the provisions of section 6-25-106, exceeding in value the sum of five thousand dollars, nor is he or she liable for any loss thereof by theft or otherwise in any sum exceeding the sum of five thousand dollars, unless the landlord or keeper of the hotel or public inn, or person in charge of the office, assumes in writing a greater liability.
