§ 14008.6. — 14008.6. (Amended by Stats. 2001, Ch. 159, Sec. 196.)

(a)As a condition of eligibility for medical services provided under this chapter or Chapter 8 (commencing with Section 14200), each applicant or beneficiary shall do all of the following:
(1)Assign to the state any rights to medical support and to payments for medical care from a third party that an individual may have on his or her own behalf or on behalf of any other family member for whom that individual has the legal authority to assign those rights, and is applying for or receiving medical services. Receipt of medical services under this chapter or Chapter 8 (commencing with Section 14200) shall operate as an assignment by operation of law. If those rights are assigned pursuant to this subdivision, the assignee may become an assignee of record by the local child support agency
