(a)The project for flood protection measures on the Upper Guadalupe River in Santa Clara County is adopted and authorized substantially in accordance with the recommendations of the Chief of Engineers of the United States Army Corps of Engineers in a report dated August 19, 1998, or as that report may be subsequently modified, at an estimated cost to the state of the sum that may be appropriated by the Legislature for state cooperation, upon the recommendation and advice of the department. The department may pay 50 percent of the
nonfederal capital costs of the recreation and fish and wildlife enhancement features of the project.
(b)The Santa Clara Valley Water District shall give assurances satisfactory to the Secretary of the Army that local cooperation required by the final repo
