(a)
Whenever a nonforfeiture benefit is implemented by a life insurer in connection with a defaulting policyowner, the insurer shall provide a notice to the policyowner which explains that action and refers the policyowner to the other available options, if any, under the provisions of the policy.
(b)
For purposes of this section, any notice to a policyholder shall be in writing and shall be mailed to the last known address of the policyowner shown on the records of the insurer.
(c)
This section does not apply to any of the following:
(1)
Reinsurance.
(2)
Group insurance.
(3)
Pure endowment.
(4)
Annuity or reversionary annuity contract.
(5)
Industrial insurance.
