(a)
“Smog index” means the index number assigned to a motor vehicle by the state board pursuant to Section 44251 to indicate the effect of the use of that vehicle on ozone levels in ozone nonattainment areas.
(b)
This section shall become inoperative five years from the date determined pursuant to Section 32 of the act adding this section, and on the January 1 following that date is repealed.
