Text
The board shall, upon application of a member who has served for 20 years or more in the aggregate as a county peace officer, and who has attained age 55, and except as to the sheriff and the undersheriff, upon its own motion may retire such member.
Every member, except the sheriff and undersheriff, who has served 20 or more years in the aggregate, shall be retired as of the first day of the month after attaining age 60 or as of the first day of the month following the ninety-first day after the adjournment of the Fifty-seventh Regular Session of the Legislature, whichever is later.
