Text

(a)A peace officer of this state or a political subdivision thereof who engages in off-duty employment solely and exclusively as a security guard or security officer, and who is required to be registered as a security guard or security officer pursuant to this chapter, shall only be subject to the following:
(1)The fees required by subdivision (h) of Section 7588.
(2)The fees required by paragraphs (1) and (2) of subdivision (i) of Section 7588 if the peace officer carries or uses a firearm or baton as part of the off-duty employment and has not received approval of their primary employer, as defined in paragraph (2) of subdivision (i) of Section 7583.9, to carry a firearm or baton while working as a security guard or security officer, and has not submitted verification of that ap
