(a)
(1)A person licensed under this division or under an initiative act referred to in this division shall not charge, bill, or otherwise solicit payment, directly or indirectly, for anatomic pathology services if those services were not actually rendered by that person or under his or her direct supervision.
(2)Notwithstanding paragraph (1), a clinical laboratory may seek payment for anatomic pathology services provided directly or through arrangements with a physician and surgeon in compliance with Article 18 (commencing with Section 2400) of Chapter 5 or if it is required to send a sample to another clinical laboratory for specialized testing or services and if that clinical laboratory has performed the services, directly or through arrangements with a physician and surgeon as set for
