(a)In addition to the board’s authority to deny an application for registration pursuant to Section 2555.5, the board, in its sole discretion, may issue a probationary registration to an applicant subject to terms and conditions, including, but not limited to, any of the following:
(1)Limiting practice to a supervised, structured environment in which the registrant’s activities shall be supervised by another optician registered by the board who is in good standing and is either of the following:
(A)Is registered in an equivalent class as the class the applicant is applying for registration in.
(B)Is a licensed optometrist or physician and surgeon in good standing.
(2)Total or partial restrictions on ophthalmic dispensing privileges.
(3)Continuing medical or psychiatric treatment.
