(a)(1) Upon registering any vehicle under the laws of this state, which vehicle is designed and used primarily for the transportation of property or for the transportation of ten (10) or more persons, the Secretary of the Department of Finance and Administration may require such information and may make such investigation or test as necessary to enable him or her to determine whether the vehicle may safely be operated upon the highways in compliance with all the provisions of this chapter.
(2)The Secretary of the Department of Finance and Administration shall register every such vehicle for a permissible gross weight not exceeding the limitation set forth in this chapter.
(3)Every such vehicle shall be equipped with brakes as required in §§ 27-37-501 and 27-37-502 .
