Text

(a)The Speaker of the House of Representatives, on the date of the general election at which members of the House of Representatives are elected to four-year terms, shall continue to serve as Speaker of the House of Representatives until the election for Speaker is held pursuant to Section 48.01 of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022.
(b)If a vacancy occurs in the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives for any reason, the Speaker Pro Tempore of the House of Representatives shall assume the duties of the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the remainder of the term of office or until a successor Speaker is elected pursuant to Section 48.01 of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022.
