(a)Health benefits contracts provided under this chapter shall not be subject to individual post-claim medical underwriting while coverage remains in effect, and no member covered under a health benefits contract provided under this chapter shall be subject to cancellation, nonrenewal, modification, or increase in premium for reason of a medical event.
(b)In order to purchase health benefits offered by a nonprofit agricultural organization under this chapter, an individual shall certify that he or she does not have the option to participate in an employer-sponsored health plan, or that he or she has the option to participate in an employer-sponsored health plan but the cost to the individual is more than nine percent of his or her household income.
