There shall be established and maintained the office of inspector of mines, the duties of which shall be prescribed by law.

This section was amended by a resolution adopted by the 1989 legislature, ratified by a vote of the people at the general election held on November 6, 1990, and proclaimed in effect on November 28, 1990.
