Full Text
The Legislature shall have the power to prescribe and enforce by appropriate legislation qualifications to be required of persons to vote and to register to vote in addition to those set forth in this Constitution.

NOTE: The amendment to Article 12 of the Constitution, adding Section 244A, to confer upon the legislature power to prescribe and enforce addi- tional qualifications to be required of persons to register and vote in addi- tion to those set forth in the Constitution, was proposed by Laws, 1965, Extraordinary Session, ch. 40, and upon ratification by the electorate on the third Tuesday in August, 1965, was inserted by proclamation of the Sec- retary of State on August 31, 1965, by virtue of the authority vested in him by Section 273 of the Constitution, as amended.
