(a)Standards and procedures for reviews Not later than 1 year after November 28, 1990, the Secretary shall complete a review of regulations and standards (in effect on November 28, 1990) for the approval of an automated data processing and information retrieval system maintained by a State (hereinafter in this section referred to as a "system") to determine the extent to which the regulations and standards contribute to a more effective and efficient program. The Secretary shall revise regulations (in effect on November 28, 1990) to take into account the findings of the review conducted under subparagraph (A). The regulations shall require States to incorporate all or part of systems in use elsewhere, unless a State documents that the design and operation of an alternative system would be

November 28, 1990, referred to in subsec. (a)(1)(B), was in the original "the date of enactment of this Act", which was translated as meaning the date of enactment of Pub. L. 101–624, which enacted this section, to reflect the probable intent of Congress.
Pub. L. 110–234 and Pub. L. 110–246 made identical amendments to this section. The amendments by Pub. L. 110–234 were repealed by section 4(a) of Pub. L. 110–246.

Subsec. (c). Pub. L. 110–246, §4001(b), substituted "supplemental nutrition assistance program" for "food stamp program".
