Text
The state treasurer, the treasurer of any county, city, town or
school district or any other public officer or employee having
in his custody or under his control any public monies, who makes
a profit, directly or indirectly, by loaning or depositing the
monies contrary to law or who uses public monies for any purpose
not authorized by law, is guilty of a felony punishable by
imprisonment for not more than two (2) years, a fine of not more
than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), or both and may be
removed from office.
