Text

(1)The committee shall have the responsibility to:
(1)(a) administer a coordinated scenic byway program within the state that:
(1)(a)(i) preserves and protects the intrinsic qualities described in Subsection (1)(b) unique to scenic byways;
(1)(a)(ii) enhances recreation; and
(1)(a)(iii) promotes economic development through tourism and education;
(1)(b) ensure that a highway nominated for a scenic byway designation possesses at least one of the following six intrinsic qualities:
(1)(b)(i) scenic quality;
(1)(b)(ii) natural quality;
(1)(b)(iii) historic quality;
(1)(b)(iv) cultural quality;
(1)(b)(v) archaeological quality; or
(1)(b)(vi) recreational quality;
(1)(c) subject to legislative approval, designate highways as state scenic byways from nominated highways within the state if the co
