(1)An applicant for licensure under this chapter shall:
(1)(a) submit an application in a form prescribed by the division; and
(1)(b) pay a fee determined by the department under Section 63J-1-504.
(2)In addition to the requirements of Subsection (1), an applicant for licensure as a master therapeutic recreation specialist under this chapter shall as defined by division rule:
(2)(a) complete an approved graduate degree;
(2)(b) complete 4,000 qualifying hours of paid experience as:
(2)(b)(i) a licensed therapeutic recreation specialist if completed in the state; or
(2)(b)(ii) a certified therapeutic recreation specialist certified in good standing by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification if completed outside of the state; and
(2)(c) pass an approved examination.

(1) An applicant for licensure under this chapter shall:

(2) In addition to the requirements of Subsection (1), an applicant for licensure as a master therapeutic recreation specialist under this chapter shall as defined by division rule:

(3) In addition to the requirements of Subsection (1), an applicant for licensure as a therapeutic recreation specialist under this chapter shall, as defined by division rule:
(3)(a) (3)(a)(i) complete an approved:
(3)(a)(i)(A) bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation or recreational therapy;
(3)(a)(i)(B) bachelor's degree with an approved emphasis, option, or concentration in therapeutic recreation or recreational therapy; or
(3)(a)(i)(C) graduate degree;
(3)(a)(ii) complete an approved practicum; and
(3)(a)(iii) pass an approved examination; or
(3)(b) document proof of current certification in good standing as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, or an equivalence of that certification, as determined by division rule made in consultation with the board.
(4) In addition to the requirements of Subsection (1), an applicant for licensure as a therapeutic recreation technician under this chapter shall, as defined by division rule:
(4)(a) complete an approved:
(4)(a)(i) educational course in therapeutic recreation taught by a licensed master therapeutic recreation specialist; or
(4)(a)(ii) six semester hours or nine quarter hours in therapeutic recreation or recreational therapy from an accredited college or university;
(4)(b) complete an approved practicum under the supervision of:
(4)(b)(i) a licensed master therapeutic recreation specialist; or
(4)(b)(ii) an on-site, full-time, employed therapeutic recreation specialist; and
(4)(c) complete a minimum of two hours of training in suicide prevention via a course that the division designates as approved.
