(1)(1)(a) Except as provided in Subsection (2), the fingerprints of each applicant for a permit under Section 53-5a-307 or 53-5a-308 shall be taken on a form prescribed by the bureau.
(1)(b) Upon receipt of the fingerprints, the applicant fingerprint card fee prescribed in Section 53-10-108, and the fee prescribed in Section 53-5a-307 or 53-5a-308, the bureau shall conduct a search of the bureau's files for criminal history information pertaining to the applicant, and shall request the Federal Bureau of Investigation to conduct a similar search through the Federal Bureau of Investigation's files.
