Text

(1)(1)(a) "Law enforcement officer" means a sworn and certified peace officer:
(1)(a)(i) who is an employee of a law enforcement agency; and
(1)(a)(ii) whose primary and principal duties consist of the prevention and detection of crime and the enforcement of criminal statutes or ordinances of this state or any of its political subdivisions.
(1)(b) "Law enforcement officer" includes the following:
(1)(b)(i) a sheriff or deputy sheriff, chief of police, police officer, or marshal of any county, city, or town;
(1)(b)(ii) the commissioner of public safety and any member of the Department of Public Safety certified as a peace officer;
(1)(b)(iii) all individuals specified in Section 79-2-704;
(1)(b)(iv) a police officer employed by an institution of higher education;
(1)(b)(v) investigators fo
