§ 34A-2-104 — "Employee," "worker," and "operative" defined -- Specific circumstances -- Exemptions.

Utah·Title 34A Utah Labor Code·Ch. 34A-2 Workers' Compensation Act·Part 34A-2-1 General Provisions
(1)As used in this chapter and Chapter 3, Utah Occupational Disease Act, "employee," "worker," and "operative" mean:
(1)(a) (1)(a)(i) an elective or appointive officer and any other person:
(1)(a)(i)(A) in the service of:
(1)(a)(i)(A)(I) the state;
(1)(a)(i)(A)(II) a county, city, or town within the state; or
(1)(a)(i)(A)(III) a school district within the state;
(1)(a)(i)(B) serving the state, or any county, city, town, or school district under:
(1)(a)(i)(B)(I) an election;
(1)(a)(i)(B)(II) appointment; or
(1)(a)(i)(B)(III) any contract of hire, express or implied, written or oral; and
(1)(a)(ii) including:
(1)(a)(ii)(A) an officer or employee of the state institutions of learning; and
(1)(a)(ii)(B) a member of the Utah National Guard or Utah State Defense Force while on state active d
