§ 31A-8-101 — Definitions.

For purposes of this chapter:

(1)"Basic health care services" means:
(1)(a) emergency care;
(1)(b) inpatient hospital and physician care;
(1)(c) outpatient medical services; and
(1)(d) out-of-area coverage.
(2)"Health maintenance organization" means any person:
(2)(a) other than:
(2)(a)(i) an insurer licensed under Chapter 7, Nonprofit Health Service Insurance Corporations; or
(2)(a)(ii) an individual who contracts to render professional or personal services that the individual directly performs; and
(2)(b) that:
(2)(b)(i) furnishes at a minimum, either directly or through arrangements with others, basic health care services to an enrollee in return for prepaid periodic payments agreed to in amount prior to the time during which the health care may be furnished; and
(2)(b)(ii) is oblig
