Text

(1)In furtherance of the purposes in Section 31A-1-102, the commissioner may educate consumers about insurance and provide consumer assistance.
(2)Consumer education may include:
(2)(a) outreach activities; and
(2)(b) the production or collection and dissemination of educational materials.
(3)Consumer assistance may include:
(3)(a) explaining:
(3)(a)(i) the terms of a policy;
(3)(a)(ii) a policy's complaint, grievance, or adverse benefit determination procedure; and
(3)(a)(iii) the fundamentals of self-advocacy; and
(3)(b) informal efforts to negotiate a resolution of a dispute between a consumer and a licensee.
(4)(4)(a) Notwithstanding Subsection (3) and Section 31A-2-216, consumer assistance may not include:
(4)(a)(i) commencing an administrative, judicial, or other proceeding again
