Text
(1)The appointing authority of a county or police interlocal entity subject to this part that regularly employs one or more peace officers shall:
(1)(a) appoint a peace officer with the advice and consent of the county legislative body or police interlocal entity governing body, subject to the commission's rules;
(1)(b) appoint each subordinate peace officer;
(1)(c) fill a vacancy in the department; and
(1)(d) further promote, transfer, reassign, reappoint, demote, suspend, or remove a peace officer in accordance with this part.
(2)The commission shall adopt rules governing the appointment of peace officers through reappointment of a former employee who separated in good standing, within one year after separation.
