§ 16-10a-401 — Corporate name.

(1)The name of a corporation:
(1)(a) except for the name of a depository institution as defined in Section 7-1-103, shall contain:
(1)(a)(i) the word:
(1)(a)(i)(A) "corporation";
(1)(a)(i)(B) "incorporated"; or
(1)(a)(i)(C) "company";
(1)(a)(ii) the abbreviation:
(1)(a)(ii)(A) "corp.";
(1)(a)(ii)(B) "inc."; or
(1)(a)(ii)(C) "co."; or
(1)(a)(iii) words or abbreviations of like import to the words or abbreviations listed in Subsections (1)(a)(i) and (ii) in another language;
(1)(b) may not contain:
(1)(b)(i) language stating or implying that the corporation is organized for a purpose other than that permitted by:
(1)(b)(i)(A) Section 16-10a-301; and
(1)(b)(i)(B) the corporation's articles of incorporation; or
(1)(b)(ii) for a corporation that changes the corporation's name or is incorpo
