Sec. 162.065. MEMBERSHIP.
(a)Each incorporator of a telephone cooperative is a member of the cooperative. A person other than an incorporator may become a member of a telephone cooperative only if the person agrees to use communication service furnished by the cooperative when that service is made available through the cooperative's facilities. The bylaws may prescribe additional qualifications and limitations with respect to membership.
(b)Membership in a telephone cooperative is evidenced by a certificate of membership. A membership certificate must contain the provisions, consistent with this chapter and the articles of incorporation, that are prescribed by the cooperative's bylaws. A certificate may be transferred only as provided by the bylaws.
