Sec. 521.300. HEARING: LOCATION; PRESIDING OFFICER.

(a)A hearing under this subchapter shall be conducted in a municipal court or a justice court in the county in which the person resides. The judge of the municipal court or the justice is designated as the presiding officer. (a-1) A hearing under this subchapter may be conducted by telephone or video conference call if the presiding officer provides notice to the affected parties.
(b)The presiding officer is entitled to receive a fee for hearing the case if a fee is approved and set by the commissioners court of the county in which the person resides. The fee may not exceed $5 and shall be paid from the general revenue fund of the county.
