Sec. 286.081. ELECTION FOR COUNTY ROAD SYSTEM.

(a)The commissioners court of Gregg County shall order an election on the question of the adoption of the optional county road system under Subchapter D , Chapter 252 , if the commissioners court receives a petition signed by a number of registered voters residing in each commissioner precinct equal to at least 10 percent of the number of votes cast in the precinct for governor in the most recent general election at which that office was filled.
(b)The election shall be held on the first authorized uniform election date prescribed by Section 41.001 , Election Code, that occurs at least 31 days after the date on which the petition is filed with the commissioners court.
