Sec. 12.702. LICENSE DEPUTIES; FEES.

(a)An employee of the department, a county clerk, or another person designated or contracted with by the department to issue and collect money received for a license, stamp, permit, tag, or other similar item is a license deputy and may issue and collect money for a license, stamp, permit, tag, or other similar item issued under this code, including a special issue stamp or decal.
(b)The commission by rule may set collection and issuance fees for a license, stamp, tag, permit, or other similar item issued under any chapter of this code. The commission shall not set any collection or issuance fees for license deputies at amounts less than the amounts in effect on June 1, 1995.
