Sec. 801.307. CONTINUING EDUCATION.

(a)The board by rule shall establish a minimum number of hours of continuing education required to renew a license to practice veterinary medicine or work as a licensed veterinary technician. The board shall require six hours of continuing education annually to renew an equine dental provider license. (a-1) The board by rule shall require a veterinarian to complete two hours of continuing education related to opioid abuse and controlled substance diversion, inventory, and security every two years to renew a license to practice veterinary medicine.
(b)The board may:
(1)establish general categories of continuing education that meet the needs of license holders;
(2)require a license holder to successfully complete continuing education courses; and
