Sec. 574.064. APPREHENSION AND RELEASE UNDER TEMPORARY DETENTION ORDER.

(a)A temporary detention order shall direct a peace officer or other designated person to take the patient into custody and transport the patient immediately to:
(1)the nearest appropriate inpatient mental health facility; or
(2)a mental health facility deemed suitable by the local mental health authority for the area, if an appropriate inpatient mental health facility is not available. (a-1) A physician shall evaluate the patient as soon as possible within 24 hours after the time detention begins to determine whether the patient, due to mental illness:
(1)presents a substantial risk of serious harm to the patient or others;
(2)evidences severe emotional distress and deterioration in the person's mental condition;
