Sec. 544.0107. EMPLOYMENT OF PEACE OFFICERS.

(a)The office of inspector general shall employ and commission not more than five peace officers at any given time to assist the office in carrying out the office's duties relating to the investigation of Medicaid fraud, waste, and abuse.
(b)A peace officer the office of inspector general employs and commissions is administratively attached to the Department of Public Safety. The commission shall provide administrative support to the department as necessary to support the assignment of the peace officers.
(c)A peace officer the office of inspector general employs and commissions:
(1)is a peace officer for purposes of Article 2A.001 , Code of Criminal Procedure; and
(2)shall obtain the office of the attorney general's prior approval before c
