Sec. 54.519. STUDENT UNION FEE; NORTH TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY.

(a)The board of regents of North Texas State University may levy a regular, fixed student fee against each student enrolled in that institution, as may in their discretion be just and necessary for the purpose of operating, maintaining, improving, and equipping the student union and acquiring or constructing additions thereto; provided, however, that the student body must approve each increase of said fee in excess of $3 per student for each fiscal year, at an election called for that purpose by the board. Notice of an election shall be given by publication of a substantial copy of the resolution or order of the board calling the election and showing the amount of the increased fee and the purpose for which it is to be used.
