(a)This section shall be known and may be cited as the "Chronic Disease Prevention Act." (b) By no later than October 1, 2019, the speaker of the senate, the speaker of the house of representatives, the commissioner of health, and the governor shall establish a task force to study methods on how best to prevent cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and diabetes in this state.
(c)The task force is composed of eleven (11) members, as follows:
(1)One (1) member of the senate health and welfare committee, to be appointed by the speaker of the senate;
(2)One (1) member of the health committee of the house of representatives, to be appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives;

(c) The task force is composed of eleven (11) members, as follows: (1) One (1) member of the senate health and welfare committee, to be appointed by the speaker of the senate; (2) One (1) member of the health committee of the house of representatives, to be appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives; (3) One (1) member of the senate finance, ways and means committee, to be appointed by the speaker of the senate; (4) One (1) member of the house finance, ways and means committee, to be appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives; (5) One (1) member of the senate who serves in a leadership position, to be appointed by the speaker of the senate; (6) One (1) member of the house of representatives who serves in a leadership position, to be appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives; (7) Three (3) persons who are subject matter experts in one (1) or more of the subjects that the task force will study, to be appointed by the governor in consultation with the commissioner of health; (8) One (1) person who is a certified medical professional from a historically black college or university offering advanced degrees in medicine, dentistry, or public health administration based in Tennessee and having a research and development unit, to be appointed by the governor; and (9) One (1) person who possesses experience in the subjects of health and public health and who has previous legislative experience, to be appointed by the governor. (d) The person appointed under subdivision (c)(9) shall call the first meeting of the task force. (e) By no later than December 15, 2020, the task force shall complete its findings and make recommendations in a report to the governor and to the speaker of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives. (f) The members of the task force shall serve without compensation but are entitled to reimbursement of any travel expenses incurred. All reimbursement for travel expenses must conform to the comprehensive state travel regulations as promulgated by the commissioner of finance and administration and approved by the attorney general and reporter. (g) The task force ceases to exist upon completion of the task force's report and recommendations.
