§ 68-3-207 — Fees for copies and for searches

(a) (1) The department shall prescribe the fees to be paid for certified copies or certificates or records, or for a search of the files or records when no copy is made, or for copies or information provided for research, statistical or administrative purposes. (2) The department shall not collect any fee under this section for a copy of a death certificate for a deceased person who was a veteran of an armed service of the United States, if: (A) The person requesting the copy presents the department with adequate proof of the veteran status of the deceased; (B) The person requesting the copy is related to the deceased within two (2) degrees of collateral or lineal kinship; and (C) Not more than two (2) copies of the death certificate have been previously provided on behalf of the deceased veteran without collection of the fee. (b) Fees collected under this section by the state registrar shall be deposited in the general fund of this state, according to the prevailing procedures governing collection.
