Text

(a)The Tennessee air pollution control board shall promulgate rules that:
(1)Specify the type of vehicle inspection and maintenance program to be established and implemented; and (2) Establish that the inspection associated with the vehicle inspection and maintenance program will occur on an annual basis in connection with vehicle registration renewal.
(b)(1) Notwithstanding subsection (a) or any other law to the contrary, no inspection and maintenance program shall be employed in this state on or after the effective date of this subsection (b) [see Compiler's Notes], except in accordance with subsection (c).
(2)If at any time under the federal Clean Air Act ( 42 U.S.C. § 7401 et seq.) an inspection and maintenance program is mandated instead of available as a voluntary state implement
