Text
(a)This section is known and may be cited as the "Sergeant Chris Jenkins Law." (b) A person who operates a motor vehicle upon a public roadway while transporting a ladder on the motor vehicle or in an open bed or trailer commits an offense if the ladder falls onto the roadway and causes or contributes to a motor vehicle accident.
(c)This section does not alter or amend any requirements in § 65-15-111 pertaining to additional requirements for commercial motor vehicles.
(d)A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor, except, that if death or bodily injury results from the motor vehicle accident, then a violation of this section is a Class A misdemeanor.
